JAKARTA: Forest Interactive invites content creators to take advantage of Value Added Services (VAS) or commonly called content services to connect with users of various cellular operators in Indonesia. VAS can be a good way to distribute the content that they created and get reach beyond the subscribers and followers of social media accounts owned by the content creators.
The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded an increase in cell phone use in the last decade. In 2021, the number of cellphone users in Indonesia reached 65.87% of the total Indonesian population. The increase in the use of mobile phones is linear with the increase in the number of Internet users in Indonesia, the We Are Social report states that in 2021, the number of internet users in Indonesia was 202.6 million.
Meanwhile, a survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) revealed a list of cellular operators most widely used by Indonesians in 2021-2022, which include Telkomsel 41.94%, XL Axiata 20.44%, Indosat Ooredoo 17.78%, Tri (3) 14.08%, and Smartfren 5.76%.
In 2019, the Head of the Special Telecommunications Sub-Directorate and the Feasibility of Telecommunications Implementation of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Gunawan Hutagalung said the market cap of the content provider business, including Value Added Services, was in the range of 1-2% of the total fixed and mobile services industry revenue or around IDR 2 trillion more every year. This business is predicted to have good prospects as long as it transforms properly, for example having an innovative content platform, such as creative video content or other interactive content services.

Forest Interactive has collaborated with various content providers, labels and cellular operator companies, such as Telkomsel, XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Smartfren in providing VAS in the form of Ringtones (RT), Ring Back Tones (RBT) and subscription SMS.
Forest Interactive has also worked with various actresses and content creators (Jonathan Liandi, Gebian, and Panji Petualang); actress (Aulia Sarah and Nasya Marcella); singer (Siti Badriah and Fitri Carlina); and a public figure (dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro) in providing VAS.
Most recently, Forest Interactive is working with Jena Dammaya (content creator) in the “Diary of Jena the Cosplayer Queen” program and Ustaz Riza Muhammad (religious figure) in the “Fun Assembly with Ustaz Riza” program which is included in the HIP500, a program in collaboration with Telkomsel with special prizes.
Aulia Sarah Tells the Story of Being a Horror Actress in the KKN Desa Penari Film
In 2022, Forest Interactive collaborated with Aulia Sarah, model and actress, in the NgeHIPBarengAuliaSarah program. The actor who plays Badarawuhi in the KKN Desa Penari film tells about her career journey, challenges she faced while being a horror movie actress, to her personal life. This program can be watched via a subscribed SMS channel in the form of a url link containing exclusive videos from September 30th 2022 to March 30th 2023.
To get the video series in the NgeHIPBarengAuliaSarah program, Telkomsel customers are charged a rate of 2220/SMS and get 1 SMS per two days for 180 days. Several lucky Telkomsel customers have even won various prizes from NgeHIPBarengAuliaSarah, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex Ryzen laptop for the main winner, the OPPO Reno 7 5G smartphone for the two second winners, and the Vivo Y15s smartphone for the three third winners.

Forest Interactive is collaborating with Telkomsel in the VAS program “Reveal All About the World of Acting with Nasya” which presents actress Nasya Marcella and can be accessed by Telkomsel subscribers from June 10th to December 10th, 2022.
