KUALA LUMPUR  Forest Interactive’s Head of People Operations, Armina Misparat the invitation of the University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UNIMY), spoke at the university’s 6th annual Trailblazing event

Titled ‘Paradigm Shift: Is Working From Home Productive?’, the event was held virtually via Zoom on March 3 and organized by the UNIMY Students’ Representative Council. During the sixth instalment of the Trailblazing event, Armina shared her thoughts on managing employees’ mental health and well-being while working from home.

To prevent widespread employee burnout and stress, Forest Interactive has bolstered its initiatives for mental and physical well-being support. “Embracing inclusivity this way will help revolutionize the way we view mental health and well-being in the workplace,” said Armina. “This is critical because the pandemic has demonstrated that the health of the workplace is the health of a business. In Forest Interactive, we conducted a series of virtual webinars, celebrations for festive and birthdays, virtual sports and recreation activities like yoga and running challenges, as well as CSR initiatives.”

Additionally, leaders should be aware of any increased health and safety risk from remote working during this time, and work to create an inclusive and open conversation between employers and employees

“It is important for leaders to stay in regular communication with their teams, to monitor performance, workload, mental health, and well-being, to ensure they are getting the guidance and care that they are entitled to while working from home,” explained ArminaThis will also increase productivity and helps teams across a company feel more connected, supported, and in control of their work-life balance.

In her closing remark, Armina urged employers to support employees for the long term. Creating a safe and inclusive environment will help alleviate concerns that poor mental health will impact job progression. A sustained focus on well-being will contribute to more equitable societies.

Armina added, “Vaccine rollout offers hope that life will begin to return to normal, but during that time, employers will continue to play a vital role in supporting the employees’ mental health and well-being as best as they are able to. With proper support, professionals not only perform better in their roles but also interact more thoughtfully and empathetically with customers.”

Also present at the panel discussion were Prof Dr. Aimi Zulhazmi, Adjunct Professor of Finance at UNIMY, Ts. Dr. Mohamed Ackiel, Senior Vice President, Special Projects at Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, and Abdul Halim Bisri, Senior Vice President, Corporate Advisory & Strategic Division at MIGHT.
