The instructor for the workshop is Kevin Wong, a Full Stack Designer from Forest Interactive. After the sharing session, we proceed with the portfolio building tutorial. It is important to use a beginner-friendly website builder because we want to encourage the non-tech students to have an exposure to using a website builder tool. Therefore, he recommends using the Notion software platform (https://www.notion.so/), which is a content driven and easy editable free website. Throughout the tutorial, he did a walk-through of the platform with the participants on the website functions while applying a basic formula tip on creating various portfolio sections like the title, summary and body content. The session got more engaging when some of the participants shared a snapshot of their portfolio from the website.
Towards the end of the session, the participants received some advice as well as helpful tips that is related to improving resumes and portfolios. We also had a Q&A session with the participants about the portfolio content, assessment’s contribution, resume and others. We hope that this workshop will help the participants to have an increased confidence as well as to gain better quality of employment.
