A New Employee Welcome Kit That Teaches Creative Thinking: Forest Interactive’s Corporate Culture

Rather than just giving talents a pile of welcoming materials, Forest Interactive made it a point of presenting the starter kits in sophisticated, eco-friendly packaging along with the idea of bringing the new joiner’s attention to build something right away. The packaging helps to tell Forest Interactive’s story, with an elegant, minimalist presentation that suggests the thoughtful and unified experience people can expect with the company.

While Forest Interactive designed the starter kits to be fun (and green), it is also about ensuring that new talents have useful items for their everyday work. The starter kits include a foldable canvas bag, universal charging cable, stress ball, fidget cube, lanyard, and stickers. The branding team shares that the decision-making in coming up with the contents of the box entailed a mix of minds from different departments, as well as a focus group discussion from new employees to ensure that the items are not just useful, but also in support of mental health campaigns—an advocacy that was heightened especially during the lockdowns.

Additionally, the main piece of the starter kit is the packaging, which is an innovative design that can be converted into a stationary and phone holder, allowing talents to continue utilizing the box well after receiving it.

“At Forest Interactive, we value our talents and strive to make their first day of work memorable which is why we created a holistic onboarding process via a series of videos and guided Asana checklists to cater to our growing workforce all the world, as well as giving a lot of attention to small details that allows us to show the new joiners how we operate as a company and the values we share,” said Hanaflor Lopez, Brand Marketing Lead at Forest Interactive.

“Creative Thinking, Understanding Terms & Conditions, Recycling are immediately shown in the outer part of the packaging to get them to think: ‘what I can do with this box?’ and in the hopes that they read the instructions to understand what we’re implying. We had a lot of fun working on the starter kit, we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did,” Hanaflor Lopez concluded.
