KUALA LUMPUR: Johary Mustapha, Founder and CEO of Forest Interactive, recently participated in the High-Level Opening Panel titled “Forward Faster SMEs: Small Businesses, Big Impact” during the UN Global Compact‘s “Forward Faster Now – Asia & Oceania” event at the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur.
Johary was invited to share his insights due to his significant contributions to the national sustainability agenda and his expertise in fostering sustainable business practices.
The Forward Faster Now | Asia & Oceania event brought together high-level executives and leaders from the private sector, government, and corporate sustainability fields, along with sustainable development practitioners and Global Compact Country Networks from the Asia & Oceania region.
The event aimed to drive business ambition towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), assess regional progress, identify gaps, and highlight scalable solutions tailored to the region’s unique context.
In the panel session, Johary emphasized the critical role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in promoting sustainable economic growth and development. He highlighted the challenges SMEs face in adopting sustainable practices and proposed strategies to overcome these obstacles, including the adoption of green technologies, implementation of circular economy principles, and improved access to finance.
The panel was joined by esteemed speakers including Esther Chang of UN Global Compact Network Singapore, Cheng Yee Chin of DTC World Corporation Pte Ltd, and Aparna Saxena of TORAJAMELO. The session underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in advancing regional sustainability efforts.
