JAKARTA: Forest Interactive, alongside Forest Interactive Foundation, launches #seKODlah – Developing Future Innovators, an intensive technology-based 5-month learning program, to help 33 scholars from various universities in Indonesia learn skills related to technology and prepare their portfolio for future careers in the digital technology industry.
This program is also a part of KampusMerdeka’s Independent Studies program, an initiative under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in Indonesia.
The #seKODlah x Kampus Merdeka program began on August 25, 2022 and will run until January 13, 2023. Starting with two general lecturer sessions, with Founder & CEO Johary Mustapha leading the first, #seKODlah students heard Johary talk about his journey, from growing up in a middle-class family to being the Founder and CEO of a multinational telecommunications company. Johary also reminded the scholars attending that they have to strive and work hard, and not give up if they dream of building their own technology company.
Johary also affirmed the company’s efforts to encourage more talents to be involved in the digital technology field.
“Even to this day, it’s still clear that there are several resources challenges faced, especially in terms of having clear understanding of the suitable technologies with the current market demand,” said Johary.
In the second general lecture session, Sharon Maurenn, Co-Founder & CEO of Wallet Codes, talked about the inspiration behind her leadership and the journey of shipping a product and establishing a start-up. As a female leader, Sharon also shared her journey building this company to what It is today, how not having a background from technology does not affect the process, and the key is effort and to never stop learning.
Throughout September to October 2022, five workshops were held with the speakers of each workshop being talents from Forest Interactive. Wennie Chung, Deputy Head of Project Management, conducted two-part workshops focusing on project management, meanwhile Bayu Waskita, Team Lead of Back End Development did one that is focused on software development.
On the other hand, web designer Faisal Aziz, joined by senior WordPress developer Hendri Susanto, focused on web development, web APIs integration, and WordPress for their workshop.
The #seKODlah x Kampus Merdeka program consists of various workshops in a series covering project management, software development, web development, and cybersecurity. Besides that, capstone projects, career coaching, and industry introduction are also scheduled to be a part of the program, while prizes will be awarded to the top two scholars that will stand a chance to travel to Malaysia and visit Forest Interactive’s HQ office.
