KUALA LUMPUR: #SapotLokal 2.0, a continuation of Forest Interactive Foundation’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) project last Ramadan, continues to provide its beneficiaries in the Klang Valley area for the second year.
Following the initial project in 2021 that helped mom-and-pop businesses and underserved communities during the government-mandated Movement Control Order (MCO), #SapotLokal 2.0 provides further financial assistance to purchase home appliances to start a small business and to facilitate household repairs for the homes of Rumah Penyayang Nur Iman and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Al-Nasuha.
For Rumah Penyayang Nur Iman, this targeted charity project includes rewiring the house and building an outdoor sink for the orphanage, installation of a new fan, lights, and repainting window grill; an added convenience while ensuring safety for the orphans for performing daily activities. Forest Interactive Foundation also supplied nasi kukus from a roadside stall at Taman Sri Rampai for the orphans. Meanwhile, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Al-Nasuha requested to possess basic home appliances such as fans, blenders, and ovens, which will be utilized to start a small baking business for an extra source of income. This financial assistance translates into a sustainable income for the orphanage to be financially independent.
“We want to actively engage and support communities in need and we hope this small contribution will help empower the orphanages to sustain their livelihoods and live in comfort,” said Jesmin Merlin, Strategic Partnership Lead at Forest Interactive Foundation. “Providing them with core necessities and tools that may help them explore additional income sources will hopefully help them in the long run.”
Aside from providing support to small business owners in these challenging times, this project goal demonstrates Forest Interactive Foundation’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities through inclusivity and promoting community well-being.
Aligning Forest Interactive Foundation’s corporate strategy with the fundamental cornerstone sustainable development goals (SDGs), it recognize sustainable solutions, particularly on the global movement to achieve Zero Hunger (2), Good Health and Well-Being (3), Decent Work and Economic Growth (8), Reduced Inequalities (10) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (11)
In response to the ongoing global pandemic, Forest Interactive Foundation firmly believes sustainable action is pivotal when initiating a charity program as it improves affected communities’ bottom-line financials while creating a substantial positive impact on the whole ecosystem.
