KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) honored Forest Interactive CEO Johary Mustapha as the Rising Star at the 2021 Mid-Tier Companies (MTC) CEO Summit at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on December 20, 2021.

The accolade was awarded amidst the presence of more than 300 MTCs’ representatives, who attended physically and virtually. The theme of the summit, Charting the Course for Export Growth, aimed to help MTCs strategize their export plans based on the latest trends, key developments, and growth opportunities in the global markets.

Johary was also part of the keynote CEO conversation with Chuan Zhen Ko, Group CEO & Co-Founder of Plus Xnergy, and Christina Tee, CEO of Cape EMS Manufacturing, where they led a discussion surrounding Environment, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG), digitalization, as well as business agility.

“I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a Rising Star by MATRADE. Looking back at how far we’ve come as a company, and now, to be acknowledged as a significant entrepreneur in the industry, this is a significant push for me to continue working with all of our talents to take Forest Interactive to greater heights internationally,” commented Johary on the award win.

“It’s a beginning, a taste of what can be achieved,” he continued. “I admit, there is still much to learn and much to explore, but that isn’t something to be feared, nor is it something to avoid. It means that there is still room for improvements and more potential to become better.”

Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE, commented during the summit, “As the economy begins to rebound from the downturn due to the pandemic since last year, Malaysian businesses, especially the MTCs, need to push the extra mile to grow beyond all limits and boundaries.”

MATRADE honored those that have excelled in exports, driven innovation, and successfully developed outstanding business initiatives. Other than the Rising Star award, which is a category for future leaders of MTC along with the Unsung Hero award, MATRADE also recognized during the event:

  • Sustainable Advocate
  • Digitalization Advocate
  • Automation Advocate
  • Business Agility Advocate
  • Leadership Advocate

Aligned with the 12th Malaysia Plan, MATRADE will continue its Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP) to create more leading exports and collaborate with the government with its ongoing efforts to reinvigorate the Malaysian economy, driving the growth of new sectors while striking the balance to ensure the socio-economic inclusiveness and sustainability.

Forest Interactive was also a finalist for the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s 2020 Industry Excellence Awards. Click here for the full story.
