PHNOM PENH — Wallet Codes onboards leading Cambodian mobile operator Metfone as its first direct carrier billing (DCB) platform partner in the Kingdom.
The partnership will allow over 6 million Metfone subscribers to purchase Wallet Codes’ premium gaming vouchers and digital gift cards by simply charging payments to their mobile phone bills.
“Most of our products are catered to mobile users, especially the mobile gaming community,” said Soknang To, Country Manager of Forest Interactive Cambodia. “Our partnership with Metfone will open up the opportunity to grow Wallet Codes’ online payment reach as Metfone’s coverage spans to 25 provinces in the Kingdom, including the furthest, most remote areas.”
Despite more than 20 million Cambodians owning a mobile phone and the increase in local smartphone ownership over the past years, only 7% of Cambodians own a debit card, which makes access to premium digital content that requires cashless payments hard for the majority of people. Direct carrier billing, alongside other payment gateways, will provide an opportunity to drive financial inclusion, whereby online payments are accessible to every Cambodian.
Wallet Codes allows users to purchase its digital products through flexible alternative payment channels. To enable seamless transactions, Wallet Codes has partnered with more than 10 leading mobile operators across four countries in Asia.
A proprietary product of Forest Interactive, Wallet Codes Cambodia offers a broad range of gaming vouchers and digital gift cards from well-known publishers and content providers such as Mobile Legends Diamond, Garena Shells, Steam Wallet, PUBG Mobile, PSN, Nintendo, Netflix, iTunes, Xbox, Amazon, and Google Play.
