The rise of professional social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Meetup and Xing has increased rapidly, including Cult Creative, a networking application designed for creatives by creatives.

Forest Interactive has long utilized various platforms to facilitate a bias-free recruitment process for its potential talents.

Cult Creative is a professional networking platform designed for individuals in the creative industry to digitize their profiles, showcase portfolios, cater to networking needs, and browse vacant positions. The establishment of this networking application is centered around LinkedIn, but the dissimilarity is in its market segmentation, where it targets the creative market.

Victor Chia, Art Director at Forest Interactive, opined that this application is helpful to connect and expand networking contact with professionals in the creative industry though he also expressed that the application should allow users to view employment history to ease recruiters and employers during the hiring process.

In the meantime, Laxus Chin, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Forest Interactive, perceives the application is going in a good direction where they focus on the creative lines. On that account, he acknowledged that the application is still new compared to other existing professional networking platforms, which influences recruiters to consider using the application for talent search.

“Cult Creative is still a new application. Although the database and the talent pool that we are able to access is limited, it’s going in the right direction. If it manages well, then, it’ll be a good platform,” said Laxus.

Laxus Chin spoke at the Malaysia Future Leaders School 2021 on Baby Steps in The World of Technology, focusing on the common practices of recruitment process in the technology industry.

This view came into existence after Sarina Yusri, People Generalist at Forest Interactive, shared her concern that many applicants received do not fit the job requirements of the company’s available roles, particularly for creative jobs such as graphic and UI/UX designers.

Laxus supported this view, stating that

“The challenge is to get quality candidates that have prior experience with new technology.”

His concern is interconnected with the essence of Forest Interactive, an award-winning telecommunications platform provider that provides scalable mobile platforms and solutions to over 90 mobile operators.

Regardless of the challenges, Forest Interactive has proved its genuineness in upholding equality in the workplace without discriminating against any gender, race, religion, or ethnicity. In the present climate, where discrimination in the workplace has become a customary practice, Forest Interactive has broken upon the business norm by hiring talents across 28 nationalities, with 16 regional offices globally to cater to the talents’ needs. This shows its commitment to preserving inclusivity and diversity in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Meanwhile, Cult Creative as a social media platform helps to sustain this labor demand by gathering creative talents across ethnicities in an all-in-one platform. This application is available through Google Apps.
