KUALA LUMPUR – Johary Mustapha, CEO of Forest Interactive, was recently on a panel during PIKOM’s Smart Sourcing Summit Webinar Series. Speaking on utilizing technology for future hyper-collaboration opportunities between industries, the webinar was held virtually via Zoom on September 1 and moderated by Michael Warren, CEO of Consulting Board Asia.
“In the past ten years or so, we have constantly been working towards the fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0). Since then, there are a lot of innovations that have been made and new realms of knowledge that have been discovered. What was deemed impossible is now possible. Before the pandemic, many of us wouldn’t have thought that working remotely is feasible. But now, almost everyone is working from the comfort of their home,” said Johary.
“Because of this shift, governments and businesses in private sectors around the world are now leapfrogging these advancements by fully utilizing the technology to enable hyper-collaborations,” continued Johary.
In terms of the numbers, Johary said that we have the right amount of talent.
“Every year, we churn out a lot of talents,” detailed Johary. “However, the question remains. Are these talents using the tools and frameworks properly? For example, the cloud system. The technology has been there for the past five years. Of course, most of us are already aware of the system by now but how many of our talents are on, say, LinkedIn?”
“The tech industry is moving at a fast pace. Today, almost everyone is on the cloud, but leveraging these tools is a totally different ballgame,” said Johary. “Despite the easily accessible technology we have today, many of us have failed to grab the opportunity. For example, Udemy and Coursera are available for graduates and employees who are seeking to upskill and enhance their knowledge of various industry skills.”
Also present at the webinar were Dato’ Lim Han Boon, Founder of Envo Bpo Services; Dato’ Loo Lee Lian, CEO of InvestPenang; Boonsiri Somchit, Co-Founder & Partner of Xtrategize Technologies; and Justin Ong, Malaysia Innovation Leader of Deloitte Malaysia.
