KUALA LUMPUR — With Malaysian slowly reopening its doors to business, companies and organizations have begun holding events again. With that, Forest Interactive is proud to have been present at The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2020 Gala Night. In its 11th year, The SOBA recognizes and celebrates the very best in Malaysian entrepreneurship.
The SOBA was created by The Star — Malaysia’s top English-language publication — as a way to recognize up-and-coming businesses and entrepreneurs who excel in their respective fields. For over a decade, The SOBA awards have been recognized as not only one of the most prestigious but also one of the most credible with its scrutinous vetting process backed by the top accounting firms in Malaysia. Companies who earn recognition from The SOBA prove that they are the best and brightest in all of the country’s Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs.)

Forest Interactive’s intrepid leader and CEO Johary Mustapha, nominated as Male Entrepreneur of the Year, was present at the event. “We are proud to be a part of such a prestigious event,” said Johary Mustapha, CEO of Forest Interactive.
“Furthermore, we are even prouder of the fact that events such as these can continue to happen amidst the current global climate. It is not only a sign of the perseverance of the Malaysian spirit but a sign of the changing times we live in. We will be present at every event to the best of our capabilities and support our partners in the industry any way we can.”
Meanwhile, Alex Yeow, CEO of The Star Group, said: “We at The Star felt that we could do more for the SMEs in the country. This is what led to The SOBA being founded. Winners from previous years have gone on to pursue international markets as well as be publicly listed companies.”
The night’s guest of honor was Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Senior Minister Azmin Ali. Also present at the event were The Star Media Group Bhd (SMG) Director Datuk Dr. Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Rouse, Chief Content Officer Esther Ng, and Chief Business Officer Lydia Wang.
“MITI is honored to play the role of a key collaborator in The SOBA like we have done for the 4th consecutive year.” Senior Minister Azmin Ali said in his speech. “It is our firm conviction that this initiative serves as healthy competition to encourage SMEs to rise to the top in their class.”
Forest Interactive, like all businesses in and around Malaysia, is looking to bounce back after 2020. Armed with the renewed hopes of ending the pandemic in Malaysia, the company is taking steps to let its presence be known in the market. By attending galas held by prestigious organizations such as The Star, the company is ready to showcase itself anew.
