According to a survey by GSMA Intelligence, during 2020, 63% of enterprises that participated in the survey have deployed IoT as a part of their digital transformation initiative. Although the ongoing pandemic has affected short-term deployment plans, it escalated the adoption of IoT, AI, and 5G among other technologies in the longer term, as well as driving further digital transformations.

Though these are the stats for the market, most operators have not put enterprises as their front of mind when it comes to IoT. Hence, there are still many Internet of Things opportunities for operators.

Connectivity is indeed the most in-demand. Most enterprises require private networks for their IoT agenda. From national to municipal, even to international, coverage is needed to help support data transfer between machines. This is where the new 5G network agenda could also be pushed as it will provide faster speed hence efficiency.
